Talk Homework: Look at the picture in the parent mail and can you say what it is?

This week we have been talking about trees because we know that some people have been chopping trees down, this is called deforestation. If people cut down trees and do not replace them, it is bad for the environment. We need forests because the animals live there, their leaves help to give us oxygen, they supply animals with fruit, they give us wood to build things with, we can make fires with wood, we make paper from trees to make money and we make wooden toys and furniture from trees too. In art, we drew trees to show that the tree’s roots are as big as its branches.

In science, we studied food chains. We learnt that a food chain has to start with a plant (producer) e.g. a leaf and then a consumer e.g. a caterpillar eats the leaf. Then, a second consumer eats the caterpillar e.g. a bird.

In maths we have been learning how to divide by two. You can divide by sharing or grouping. In Big Maths, we tried to beat our best ever scores.

In English we have studied the features of a newspaper. Look at a paper at home and can you find the features that you have learnt about (date, name of the paper, caption, photo, headline, columns, quote, where, when, why, what, who, reporters name ……..)

Have a great weekend
