Talk homework

Talk about the rolls and travels you have learnt so far in Gymnastics.

Thank you for sending in lots of cereal boxes throughout the half term, we will be using these next week in our Design and Technology project where we will be designing and making a table for the classroom!

Next Thursday afternoon we will be walking down to the Church to explore what used to be the old school building in the Church’s Vestry and to do a bit of sketching with Father David. We will need three parent volunteers to walk down to the Church with us. If you would be interested in joining us, please email year1@buckdenacademy.org. This will be on a first come, first served basis – we will email the parents who are successful this time. Please note that there will be plenty of other opportunities for you to join us on trips and visits throughout the year so please don’t worry if you aren’t chosen this time.

Abacus - The children can access this resource via the website and complete one game as their Mathematics homework. https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

The children have their own log in details, these can be found in their reading diaries. The school code is kmm7 in the bottom box.

Reading

Please see the letter regarding reading expectations in the front of your child’s reading diary. Please ensure your child has their reading folder in school every day.

Within Mathematics, we have continued our learning journey about part-part whole models and used our number facts to solve calculations.

In English, we have used question marks when writing questions to ask Beegu. We found out she has long ears to listen and three eyes to look in different directions! Also, that she is lonely as she can’t find her family.

Within RE, we have had some great discussions, discussing the ‘Big Freeze’ illustrations that represented the parts of the Creation story. The children could identify the light, dark, sun, moon, sky, sea and the animals and plants that God created on our wonderful world.

We have almost finished our class reader, The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me, by Roald Dahl and hope to finish it by the end of today!

During our Global learning lesson, we have completed some art work, using areas of the school and produced some textured rubbings of bricks, the playground and the fence.

Please note, the Year 1 email address in a direct way of contacting us at year1@buckdenacademy.org

Have a lovely weekend, just one week to go until a well-deserved half term break!
