Science Week

Find out what we've been up to in our class

Welcome to our new website!

Talk Homework- To discuss all the investigations we have been doing in our science week. See below for more information to help guide your discussion.

Science Week has kept us oh so busy and engaged this week. Our main project has been to build a boat which can carry a sandwich to the other side of the paddling pool without it getting wet. It must be propelled in some way too. Working in groups of three, the children did an absolutely amazing job investigating materials to learn what floats and what sinks. Next they researched boat types and made their plans. Then they created their boats and tested them. Finally, they evaluated the success. The teachers then judged our projects based upon teamwork skills, design, build and presentation. Overall Jack, Nevaeh and Isabelle's boat received the highest score.

In addition to this we did so much more science. We explored shadows, water bombs, paper aeroplanes, skittle colour mixing, marshmallows in the microwave, the effect of salt in water on floating an egg, making floating ghosts using a balloons static and invisible writing with wax resist and transporting water along tubes.

We also took part in a whole school tower building challenge using spaghetti and a marshmallow.

It turns out Einstein class is a perfect name for all our incredible scientists!
