In the eyes of God, every child matters, every moment of every day

Friday 5th January

Talk Homework: Talk to your adults about all the animals you know, see if you can bring in any facts about animals.

Please make sure you are logging all your reading on Boomreader. We have been checking this. If you have problems with Boomreader please contact the Year 1 email and we can give you a paper copy. Having looked at the data on Boomreader and it seems very 'light'. Please let us know if there are any problems and we can help solve this.

This week the children have had a great start to term. We have introduced our new SDG of 'Life Below Water'.

Within RE this week we have started to look at the Creation story. The children were fantastic at coming up with rules to protect our world. We spoke about what life was like before humans. The children made fantastic pictures of what they believe Earth looked like.

In English this week we have been focused on recapping our Phase 5 Phonics sounds from the previous term. The children have worked very hard doing lots of dictation and have really impressed us with their ability and stamina.

In Maths this week we have been looking at 3D shapes. The children have worked hard understanding what properties 3D shapes have and have been great at looking around the school and finding real life examples.

Within Science the children had a fantastic afternoon showing us all their knowledge about animals. They were given an alphabet and had to think of an animal for each letter. Some proved harder than others, but the children worked so hard and were brilliant.

Please make sure your child is coming in with a coat, as it is still cold and rainy.

We hope you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break.
