In the eyes of God, every child matters, every moment of every day

Friday 1st October 2021

Talk homework

Talk about your five senses and the body part that relates to each sense.

Please can continue to save your cereal boxes over the next couple of weeks so that we can use them for our DT project in the final week of half-term, thank you!

Abacus - The children can access this resource via the website and complete one game as their Mathematics homework. https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

The children have their own login details, these can be found in their reading diaries. The school code is kmm7 in the bottom box.

Reading

Please continue to read with your child at least three times a week, as noted in your child’s reading diary – please also ensure your child has their reading diary in school every day so that we can read with them too.

Within Maths we have had an amazing week of WOW moments, showing our understanding of greater than, less than and equal to, to compare amounts of objects and numbers. The children could also order numbers from smallest to largest using objects to show their understanding. Well done everyone!

In English we have read some more of our Power of Reading book ‘Beegu’ By Alexis Deacon. We have used pastels to design what we think her home planet looks like. The children also wrote some sentences about Beegu, including what we know about her and how she might be feeling. The children talked about what makes a sentence, including a capital letter at the beginning, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end. We also talked about how to write a word that we don’t know to spell – we say the word out loud, sound it out and then use a sound mat to find the sounds that we want to write. We have been focusing on our new spelling rule and our progress in using cursive script, in EVERY piece of writing we do, is fabulous! Keep it up!

During computing we have learnt how to take a photograph using an iPad and a digital camera. We linked this to our Global learning goal (Quality Education) and took pictures of places around the school and the different parts of the building.

In Science the children were experts on using their senses and could tell us the body parts we use for each sense. In PE we went into the hall for gymnastics and safely got the mats out and did some different types of rolling. The children loved the rock’n’roll, the log roll and the egg roll and lots of the children were experts at showing their rolling techniques safely and sensibly!
