Please practise spellings for Monday's quiz (accompany, communicate, conscience, desperate, disastrous, interfere, nuisance, queue, restaurant, rhythm).
I'd like to start with a huge thank you to all the parents who have shown such support for the school (and year 5 teachers) this week - the notes of well-wishes have really been appreciated. The children were also brilliant in their support and respect.
We've started this half-term with a lesson on the difference between mass and weight, as we learnt how to measure using Newton meters and measuring scales in Science. Next week, we'll begin our unit on Lifecycles.
In History, we're beginning to look at the origins of World War II and what life would have been like for those living through the war in the UK. It links beautifully with our new English text - 'When the sky falls' – which is already beginning to touch on evacuees and rationing.
In PE, they're learning cricket and dance and in Math they're exploring the relationships between decimals, fractions and soon percentages.
Homework is due in on Thursday morning. They have a SPAG quiz and equivalent fractions worksheet, as well as minimum 30 minutes of Doodle Math. They can also split time across TTRockstars if they prefer.
While there is not a timer on DoodleMath like TTRockstars for you to monitor, as teachers, we can see how long pupils have spent playing. A good indication of their weekly progress is to also monitor if their weekly Target has turned from red to green via the Parent Portal.
Enjoy your weekend
