6.6.25

Homework: Learn your lines for the play and stage directions please. Doodlemath, Math sheet and spellings: cereal, serial, compliment, complement, principle, principal, stationary, stationery, wary, weary. As these are homophones, please learn them in context of their meaning.

It's been a good first week of our last term as Year 5. We started by investigating asexual and sexual reproduction in plants. We're propagating Rosemary in class and dissected both a tulip and rose. We explored how the reproductive organs of a flower worked and compared how different the pistils looked. Many were surprised to know that flowers contain both female and male sexual organs.

In Math, we've finished our unit on area and perimeter and will be doing our Math PIXL assessments next week. Pupils did brilliantly this week in completing their reading, spelling and grammar papers this week.

In geography, we've continued to explore where t-shirts come from, how they're made and the process they often go through to arrive from the cotton plant to our wardrobe.

We've been doing more play practise this week without scripts and it's coming together beautifully. Pupils should continue to learn their lines and practise their delivery so they're confident for next week. Costumes should be in school please by the end of next week, ready for our first dress rehearsal on Monday 16th June.

Enjoy your weekend.
