World Book Day Poetry.

Happy World Book Day!

We chose to perform 'The Ocean's Blanket' by Carol Ann Duffy. It is a poem of contrast that links to the book we are reading this term - The Varmints.

It also links beautifully to our previous Global Development Topic - Life below water, where we looked at the wonders of the Ocean.

We hope you enjoy.

This week has been good but we're all ready for a break.

In maths we have been practicing adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers to and from 3 digit numbers. We're starting to get pretty good at it.

In English we've been describing an object or place related to nature. We had to use figurative language in it.

The best part of the week has been working on our cross stitch. We've been working hard on making sure it's neat and we don't get our thread knotted up.

We hope you have a lovely half term and come back well rested.

Talk Homework: Explain how fossils are made.

Please ensure you read daily for a minimum of 15-20 minutes.

    Dear All,

This week has flown by and we can’t believe there is only one more week until half term. The children have settled in so well.

This week, in Maths, we have been learning column addition and subtraction with regrouping. We have worked so hard and are beginning to make real progress in our learning.

To help support their learning, please find a list of additional activities should they wish to complete:

Abacus - The children can access this resource via the website https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

    https://ttrockstars.com/

In English, we have continued with the theme of poetry and the children have really impressed me with their ability to understand figurative language. We tied this in with a lovely art lesson on blackberries. Yummy!

In Science, we are studying how fossils are formed and the children now have an understanding of the process. Hopefully, they will be able to tell you all for their talk homework.

We have also been learning about Education this term. We have learned about Education in Britain and France. We have also looked at how education has developed over the centuries, including both Victorian Education and Education in The Middle Ages.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
