This week we have been enjoying the sports rugby and netball. In particular, the children have been enthused by netball. Caelen said, "I have not played it before, but my mum used to play." He added, "I was proud of my defending skills, in particular marking and blocking." Roxie said, "I have never played, but I used the same skills as I use in football to get into space." One of the children mentioned that it is important to keep going and that as much as it is nice to win, it is the taking part that counts. They played so well!

During his three-minute talk, Albert brought his hamster to school. We were so lucky to meet Geoffrey and Albert spoke passionately about his pet. Don't forget that your child has been given a date for their 3-minute talk, so please can you make sure that they are prepared for the day? They can send in a short PowerPoint presentation or any photos if they wish. This will ensure that they can speak confidently to the class. 

Well done to Finley, who became a palaeontologist for the day. He went to Grafham and found fossils, including Devil's Toenails that were up to 10cms in width. Thank you for bringing them in to share with us.

If you would like to come in to speak to the children about your career, we would love your help. Last year, we had beekeepers, surveyors, a safari guide from Botswana and an engineer from Bosch. Please contact the Year 3 teachers to let us know your availability. 

The children have been working so hard at reading and most of them have completed their first AR assessments. These assessments assess their understanding of the text. Can you make sure that you read with your children at least once a day? When you read with them, if you can ask them questions about the text, then it will improve their comprehension skills.
