Home Learning

Reading:

Please read daily with your child and log on Boom Reader. We will be following up with children who are reading less than three times a week at home. If you would like a paper reading diary to record your reading at home, please let us know and we can provide one for you.

Handwriting:

Any opportunity to practise writing your letters using our cursive script at home would greatly help with developing and improving your child’s handwriting. We are focusing on ensuring our small letters are small, our tall letters are tall (and long) and that they are consistent in size.

Maths:

Please practise on Doodle Maths – ten minutes every day will help your child stay in the Green Zone! We will set an assignment for your child to do each Friday, to be completed by the following Friday.

Spellings:

We will be sending home a list of words for your child to practise at home each Tuesday – this week we are looking at apostrophes to show possession, for example: the lady’s hat, the boy’s football, the girl’s shoes.

Don’t forget to practise this week’s spelling rule over the weekend ready for our quiz on Monday morning!

This week!

Bertie has loved our Maths learning this week where we have been subtracting a one digit number from a 2 digit number, but we have had to exchange! It has been challenging but the children have been very determined and we’ve all been successful in our learning 😊.

Hugo has enjoyed writing some poetry this week – we used our senses and imagined we were birds flying through the sky. We thought about what we could see, hear, feel and then wrote some descriptive phrases. We worked hard to improve the presentation of our written work and have produced some lovely poems.

Sonny, Dougie and Martha have enjoyed our Art learning this week where we have learned about Nick Park – the creator of Wallace and Gromit – we looked at the characters and thought about what shapes we could see within the clay and the skills needed to achieve the effect. We even got to have a little sneak peak of the Wallace and Gromit Series, watching ‘The Wrong Trousers!’

Harry loved our Music lesson this week, as we think most of the children did, where we gave them each their own recorder. We looked at how to hold the recorder properly, and how to blow into it properly. The children listened well and understand the contract we made – when to blow and when to hold their recorder in a variety of different positions, including rollercoaster, Pinocchio, pirate and bow tie!

Have a lovely weekend.
