Talk Homework: Explain what you know about important events in the history of London.
We have been doing word problems in maths. We have worked with partners to draw pictures or use equipment to work out what number sentences we needed to do. Some of it was really tricky! But we stayed determined and did really well in the end. (Although one of the questions was so hard that none of us got it! Even Mr B and Mrs Routledge had to talk together to make sure they had it right. We’ll write it at the bottom if you want to have a go.)
In English and Global Learning we have been doing a combination of history and geography. We’ve been learning about London and have discovered that it was first built by the Romans who called it Londinium. They built a city there because it was flat (for building and farming), it had a lot of wood nearby and, most importantly, there was the river, which we now call the Thames. Another important year in London’s history is 1666. Do you know what happened then?
Maths questions:
1 (the hard one)
Two fried eggs and a piece of toast cost 60p
Two fried eggs and three pieces of toast cost 96p
How much does one fried egg cost?
2 (the really hard one – there are two “correct” answers. Neither of them are 8!)
Mr B has 12 sweets. Elysia asks him for four. How many sweets does he have left?
