Good morning Jess Ennis-Hill. I hope you are all good and are well into the swing of learning from home. It is now officially the Easter holidays so take some time to relax and step away from the more structured learning you might have been doing for the last few weeks. Hopefully, you have plenty of ideas lined up. If not, then you could do some of the following activities with your family:
Maths:
- Draw and play hopscotch – maybe do your jumps in increments of 4’s or 8’s or pick a times table you know you need to practise
- Measures – Bake Easter cupcakes or nests and enjoy the fruits of your labour
English
- Read together and discuss the text, characters, settings, predict what might happen in the story
- Create a list of top 5/10/20 movies you’ve never had time to watch and watch them – maybe not all in one day! Discuss what you liked or disliked about them, would you recommend the film to a friend? Who? Why?
- Write or tell a story about anything you want to
Science
- Grow some plants and flowers
- Create a mini garden
- Make a sundial and tell the time – sun permitting! Remember the 12 must point North
General
- Do some star spotting from your garden or window – remember our simple pleasures
- Play a board game
- Easter egg hunt in your garden or around the house
- Sew a sock puppet or two and put on a show
- Learn to knit
- Create a memory box
- Make a family tree
- Think of any family, friends or neighbours you know about who might be alone at this time. Do some art, write a letter or make a video you could send to them to cheer them up.
Enjoy spending time together. Have a lovely Easter, I hope the Easter bunny is kind to you all.
When using this list of suggested activities, please also refer to the advice on home schooling given by Miss Anderson in the email “Home Schooling” sent on 26th March.
