Reading
We have put your new shared reading book 'Lets Sort it Out' in your book bags today. Please take a little look over the weekend to familiarise yourself with the text ready for our first shared read on Monday.

Starling Class loved visiting the school library today and have come home with a picture book of their choice. Please feel free to read this with them over the next week, and we will return them each Friday, replacing them with a new one!

Doodle Maths
Thank you to those who have completed the Doodle Baseline. We have been working through the children as best we can and will continue to do so next week to ensure that they are all up and Doodling by the end of the week!

Handwriting
We have been working so hard on our letter formation in our handwriting sessions and the children's letters are continuing to improve. We have been focusing on making sure that we can distinguish between our tall and small letters, and are practising sitting our letters on the line. Any opportunities to practise those alphabet letters at home would be fantastic, we appreciate any time you can put in.

This Week
We have had a jam-packed week full of learning, and we are so proud of how the children are adapting to the new and more formal learning routines! 

In English, we have created an Alien friend for the character in our story and worked towards a final piece of writing where we used adjectives to describe their features.
In Maths, we have been diving deeper into the numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9, looking at them as '5 and a bit'. The children have used a range of resources and manipulatives to show these numbers as different parts.
In Science, we have recapped the features of the human body and the children can recall and identify lots of different body parts confidently!
In PE we have focused on the basics of football and rugby. We have learnt how to dribble the football confidently and how to make an accurate pass; as well as how to move with a rugby ball and are beginning to learn how it is passed from player to player.
