Our Learning This Week
It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the summer holiday and they have settled really well back into school and their new classes.
In English, the children have been working on using adjectives to describe nouns based on our Power of Reading book. We used these to create some lovely poems comparing the Old Man's dream to where he lives.
In Maths, we've been learning about numbers to 100. Learning how to compose, decompose and partition the numbers into their place values. E.g. 79 = 70 + 9 or 79 has 7 tens and 9 ones
Our Science unit this half term is light. This week the children enjoyed conducting an investigation about what happens when there is no light source by making holes in a box and looking inside to see what could be seen, then using a torch to see the effect of a light source on the visibility of the objects inside.
Our RE this half term is about God's World and learning about the creation story. This week we discussed how proud we feel when we make something and then thought about how God would feel about the world he made.
In our Humanities lessons, we've been learning about Ancient Greece, understanding BC and AD, and putting events onto a timeline.
In our art lessons, we started to explore primary and secondary colours. We've looked at artwork by Bridget Riley to discuss her use of lines and Piet Mondrian to explore his use of colour.
During our PE lessons, the children have been learning how to play tennis and traditional Greek dancing.
