Some ideas for activities this week....

    Hello Brownlee Class,

How are you all? I’m missing not seeing you all each day but I really hope you are having a good time with your family at home. Here are a few suggestions for activities you could do at home this week. Please don’t think you need to do all of this but when you want to work at home this may provide you with some ideas to select from. Miss Anderson sent a detailed letter to all parents explaining how working with your children at home will be very different for everybody and we will all need time to adapt to a pattern that suits everybody.

    Maths

Continue practising counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s both forwards and backwards and counting on in 10s from any number forwards and backwards e.g. 7,17,27,37….. See how quickly you can do it! Get an adult to time you! If you have some chalk perhaps you can chalk your numbers outside on the path. You could collect three leaf clovers to help you count in 3s and other leaves to count in 5s or print using lego blocks to count in 2s and 10s.

    Abacus is available https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/start#abacus

TT rockstars is available to practise your times tables https://ttrockstars.com/

    English

Can you remember what a verb, noun and adjective is?

Go outside and draw a picture of something that catches your eye. Perhaps it’s your bike, a flower, a bird, or if it’s cold this week then draw a picture of your favourite character in a book. Then can you describe it? So for the bird's feathers you could write elegant (adjective), soft (adjective) tail feathers (noun). Then you could write a full sentence, the beautiful thrush is waving his elegant, soft tail feathers. Remember to use your beautiful cursive handwriting that you can do!

Spelling-how many words can you think of or find in a book that end in the suffix -ful

Remember some of you that have a Nessy account it is there for you to continue with https://www.nessy.com/uk/

    Reading

Get your cushion out and enjoy a good book! Share a book with your siblings and adults. Keep your reading going and try to read three times a week if you can.

    Science

Think about what birds are doing at this time of year. What might they be making and why? What materials would make a good bird nest? Can you build a bird nest in the garden? What would you use and why? If the weather is bad and you can’t get out could you make a little bird cake to put out for the birds somewhere? https://www.rspb.org.uk/fun-and-learning/for-kids/games-and-activities/activities/make-a-speedy-bird-cake/

    Art

Just before we finished school the children learnt how to draw a self-portrait so you could have another go at home. Remember that you need to cut the face into quarters and sit the eyes half way down the face. The nose and ears are level with the eyes and the mouth is halfway between the eyes and chin.

Or how about some natural art like the picture above?

    Global Learning

Could you help to organise the recycling?

    P.E.

    How about a mini-obstacle course?
