Here are some learning activities for you to complete this week.  These will be updated every Monday :-)

    Year 6 - WEEK 1

This week it would be a good idea to get into the routine of doing some school work every day. Short regular sessions to practise your key skills are best. These include:

    Times Tables

    https://ttrockstars.com/

    https://www.timestables.co.uk/

Use Times Tables Rockstars or Hit the Button (or any other app. that enables you to practise their tables and, most crucially, increase your speed).

    Regular Reading

You should continue to read for at least 20 minutes a day – if you want to read our Power of Reading book or our Class Reader, they are:

The Song From Somewhere Else by A.F. Harrold

    The Explorer by Katherine Rundell

You can also listen to audiobooks or ask an adult to read a book to you.  Remember to make a note of any new vocabulary and look up what the new words mean.

    Writing

Write a story that begins with one of the following story openers:

The car screamed to a halt. Four men wearing masks jumped out and ran into the nearest building. I looked around. The street was deserted except for me…..

I hadn't seen the door before.  It wasn't there last night.  Cautiously, I turned the handle…..

It was there and then it had gone. Why would a rabbit be on my bathroom floor? …..

    Spellings

On the blog, there are the 100 key spellings you should be able to spell.  Continue to practise these at home (and ask an adult to test you regularly).

    Coding

All the activities are now unlocked and available.   Remember the password is Radcliffe.

You might also want to look at:

You could also bake a cake, cook a family dinner, learn how to make a cup of tea, sing, dance, plant some seeds, build a den, make a movie, write a poem, play a board game, complete a 1000-piece jigsaw, learn to knit, watch a film, invent a new indoor game, phone an elderly friend or relative, learn to juggle……

Most importantly, stay safe and take care of each other.  Mrs Masters x
