Please ensure that you are logging all reading with your child on Boomreader, if there are any words or sounds they struggle with add these so we can help them within their learning.

Please ensure that your child does their Doodlemaths, an assignment will be added every Friday for them to complete, we are able to analyse any gaps they have and address this within our learning.

We have some spellings to support their phonics learning, we are currently looking at the 'ou' sound. Please practice these over the weekend for an informal test next week.

    tea, mean, clean, crease, peach

    Time for tea.

In order for us to complete our DT project of making mini tables out of cardboard with a focus on using tabs. If you have any cardboard at home please could you bring it in by the end of next week. They do not have to be big, cereal boxes and cereal bar boxes are perfect!

Within their phonics this week the children have been working on the sound 'ea', they have thoroughly enjoyed doing some dictation to support their learning.

Maths has been looking at comparing and sorting numbers up to 20. The children have been using stem sentences to support their understanding for example: 11 is less than 15, 15 is more than 11, 11 and 15 are not equal. By using these stem sentences the children are able to show us and reason their understanding of place value.

Within their English, the children have enjoyed learning a bit more about Beegu. They found out Beegu made some friends (puppies) as she was very lonely, however, an angry man threw her away which has made her feel lonely again. Through their understanding of the book the children wrote a diary entry about her time on planet Earth so far. We were very impressed with their understanding and how the managed to write the diary entry remembering they had to pretend to be Beegu.

Science was a firm favourite this week. As we have been exploring our senses and which parts of our body they correlate too, it seemed like a great chance for an experiment. We had a mystery box where children had to explore touch and some fruit where children had to explore taste.

As always, any questions please feel free to email our Year 1 email and we will respond when we can. Have a great weekend.
