    Home Learning:

Please ensure that you are logging all reading with your child on Boomreader, if there are any words or sounds they struggle with add these so we can help them within their learning.

Please ensure that your child does 45 mins of Doodlemaths each week.  An assignment will be added every Friday for them to complete, we are able to analyse any gaps they have and address this within our learning.

We have some spellings to support their phonics learning, we are currently looking at the 'ue' sound. Please practice these over the weekend for an informal test next week...

The highlight of this week was shared reading. On Thursday, the children took their books to Year 2 and read them to a Year 2 child. Everyone did a fantastic job and it was lovely to hear how positive the feedback was from the Year 2 children!

In Maths we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes. The children have picked up the names of the shapes very quickly and have been able to sort these into groups. They have been brilliant at explaining the differences between shapes and have worked hard to understand the difference between a square and a rectangle.

In English we have started our new book 'Look Up' by Nathan Bryon. The children have been working on figuring out what the main character Rocket likes by inferring information from the pictures as well as from what the other characters have said about her. They have also shared lots of interesting facts that they already know about space and are clearly excited to keep reading.

In History we have begun to look at the Domesday book and what information they used to record. In Geography we have looked at our new SDG, Industry, Innovation and Infrastrucutre and we explored what this means and came up with lots of examples.

Finally, in science, we have started our new topic for the half term and have been looking at everyday materials. We looked at wood, fabric, glass, plastic and metal and went on a hunt for these materials around the classroom.
