Home Learning:
Please ensure that you are logging all reading with your child on Boomreader, if there are any words or sounds they struggle with add these so we can help them within their learning.
Please ensure that your child does 45 mins of Doodlemaths each week. An assignment will be added every Friday for them to complete, we are able to analyse any gaps they have and address this within our learning.
We have some spellings to support their phonics learning, we are currently looking at the 'a-e' sound. Please practice these over the weekend for an informal test next week...

The highlight of this week for Year 1 was having a call with Santa! The children were so excited to speak to him and he joined us on the screen and told the children what he was doing to get ready for Christmas. They also really enjoyed getting to wear their Christmas jumpers and have their yummy Christmas dinner!
In English this week we have been looking at ‘The Jolly Postman Christmas’. We started off by exploring the main character and thinking about what job he does and what sort of person he is. We then had a think about where he was going on his journey and the children drew some lovely maps to show where they think he was heading.
In maths we have been spending more time looking at number bonds to 10 using the part whole and bar models. They also began to try writing number sentences for these number bonds and showed great resilience with this.
In Science the children were given the task of finding the best material for a bridge. They were given lots of resources and got to experiment with them in groups to see if they could make the strongest bridge. They showed great thinking in this experiment and demonstrated fantastic teamwork.
In History we were looking at the different jobs in the times of the Doomsday book and the Victorian times. The children found it exciting to explore lots of the different roles that people would have had and we spent some time discussing what these jobs might look like now.
If you have any cereal bar boxes please could you bring these in for the DT project, this would be much appreciated, thank you!
We hope that everyone is well and feeling better!
